Built right, the metadata framework can also be leveraged by systems to optimize query processing on Hadoop and RDBMS — so this is extremely high leverage work.
- Mission:
- Build the above metadata framework to work across Hadoop, RDBMS and NoSQL stores
- Assist in migrating all existing ETL flows to this framework
- Assist in building an ETL framework that will significantly move the needle toward a self-service model
- Competencies:
- Deep programming experience — one or more of Java, C, C++ on Unix environments
- Deep knowledge of metadata systems as well as data flow systems
- Experience in delivering bullet-proof systems that must run 24x365.25
- Good knowledge of RDBMS systems as well as Hadoop
- Working knowledge of workflow schedulers and data flow engines
- Nice to have: experience in developing domain specific languages for systems -- some compiler / programming language background would be highly desirable
- Outcomes:
- Deliver a metadata system that spans RDBMS and Hadoop
- Assist in the delivery of ETL framework that leverages this framework
- Results in at least one well received and respected open source project
- Results in a paper in a prestigious journal and/or conference
