Job summary
The
Associate Technical Support Engineer Trainee will join our Global
Support Services department in Red Hat, Pune. In this role you will go
through in-house and on the job training on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and
related technologies like virtualization, storage, clustering, cloud,
satellite, etc.
Candidates
will perform a written Linux test, English writing test, aptitude test,
group discussion, and personal interview before being hired to the
role.
Primary job responsibilities
- Perform
initial investigation and respond to web cases, gather information for
each issue presented, and carry out the necessary research to provide
analysis and fully understand the issue.
- Propose workarounds if appropriate
- Propose and discuss fixes while providing advice and educating customers
- Work with engineering, product management, and support management when necessary in order to prioritize customers' requests
- Incorporate your findings in Red Hat's knowledge base
- Support
Red Hat's global customers on technical issues, using phone, chat, and
remote access tool during the customer's business hours
Required skills
- Freshers
with B.Tech, bachelor's in computer science or IT, Microsoft Certified
Architect, Microsoft Certified Masters, 2011/2012 (preferred) passed out
batch with 60% and above in graduation and with Red Hat Certified
Engineer certification are eligible
- Understanding of Linux/Unix and open source
- Theoretical knowledge of networking, UNIX-like services and concepts
- Good analytical and reasoning skills
- Ability to communicate effectively English communication (written and oral)
- Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to details
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Incorporating findings in Red Hat’s knowledge base
- Team player
- Should be comfortable working in shifts and handle phone calls when required
- Preference
would be given for candidates those have done their final year project
on Linux or are currently contributing to open source projects
